Our Projects
Driving digital inclusion, peace, and empowerment across India's North East Region — one community at a time.
Current & Recent Initiatives
Manipur CAN – Community Access Network
Rebuilding lives through internet resilience in conflict-affected Churachandpur District, Manipur — home to the world's longest internet shutdown. Two community networks were established across two villages, providing reliable internet access to IDPs, women, youth, and schools amidst ongoing ethnic conflict and communication blackouts. Supported by the APNIC Foundation.
Digital Peace Fellowship – North East Region
A six-month initiative equipping 14 young peacebuilders from Manipur, Assam, Nagaland and beyond with skills in digital storytelling, fact-checking, online safety, and peace-tech tools. Fellows design and implement micro community peace projects, contributing to regional solidarity and reduced online conflict.
Project Udyamita – Women in Entrepreneurship
Transforming livelihoods into sustainable enterprises for rural women across North East India and Assam. Two parallel CSR pilots — funded by NEDFi (Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh) and SLICE Small Finance Bank (Kamrup, Assam) — delivered entrepreneurship training, sector-specific skill development in handloom, tailoring, and food processing, and established village-level Udyamita Kendras as permanent digital service hubs, each led by a locally embedded Udyamita Sakhi.
HaqDisha: Entitle4All
A flagship initiative improving access to information and government entitlements for indigenous, tribal, and vulnerable groups across the North East. Focuses on digital skills to help communities navigate online platforms for welfare benefits and grievance redress.
Cyber Shakti
Empowering women — including rural entrepreneurs — with cyber security awareness, digital literacy, and the confidence to thrive safely in the digital age. Active across rural and urban areas in North East India in partnership with Women in Tech India.
Access for Aid
Providing free internet broadband to humanitarian groups operating in conflict zones in Manipur affected by prolonged internet shutdowns since May 2023. Targets 3 districts bordering Myanmar where connectivity is critical for relief coordination.
Digi Samarth
A transformative initiative catering to both basic and advanced digital and media literacy needs. Equips individuals with skills to critically evaluate information, identify misinformation, and leverage technology responsibly in everyday life.
Krisarthak
Financial education for 2.5 lakh farmers under Assam's Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART), under ARIAS Society with World Bank support. The name blends "Krishi" (farming) and "Sarthak" (meaningful) — making agriculture purposeful.
Digital Udyamita
Bridging the digital divide and empowering rural women entrepreneurs (RWEs) in North East India through focused digital skills training, market linkages, and entrepreneurship support. A joint initiative of CSDD and NEDF.
Community Internet Library
50 new Community Internet Libraries (CILs) across 10 districts of Assam and West Bengal, bringing last-mile internet access to tea tribe and Adivasi communities. Implemented by the Digital Empowerment Foundation with Internet Society Foundation support.
Internet Roshni
Last-mile internet and digital access for tea tribe and Adivasi communities across 5 Assam districts and 50 remote tea gardens since 2022. Bringing light (Roshni) to underserved communities through meaningful connectivity.
Digital Injot
Focused on the Tea Tribe and Adivasi community — 20% of Assam's population and producers of 53% of India's tea. Digital Injot ("light of digital inclusion") addresses the deep connectivity and opportunity gap faced by these historically marginalized communities.
Digital Skilling for Livelihood, Employability & Entrepreneurship (DSLEE)
Digital skills training for Tea Tribe and Adivasi youth in Assam, supporting post-COVID recovery and resilience. Addresses the community's lack of sustainable internet access, digital resources, and awareness of welfare schemes.
