What is the Digital INJOT Community Fellowship?
The Digital INJOT Community Fellowship is for the Tea Tribe & Adivasi Community (TTAC) in Assam. The fellowship seeks to engage community youths as digital advocates who can reach out to their community in tea gardens with – Internet and mobile literacy; access to information, schemes, opportunities, and services; and create local SADRI dialect digital content on important information for community needs and usage. Through this fellowship initiative, it seeks to build and contribute to an enabling digital ecosystem for the TTAC communities living in remote and backward tea gardens.

Why the Fellowship?
The Tea Tribe & Adivasi Community (TTAC) is one of the most backward and vulnerable indigenous groups in the State of Assam. While they contribute to Assam’s economy and India’s 53% of total tea production, yet the community remains poor and backward in all of the social and economic indicators. With an increasing digital society, economy, and digital based services, opportunities, and access, the community is far from being an active participant and recipient of digital gains and benefits, due to a lack of digital devices, networks, skills, and capacities.
Through the fellowship initiative, it seeks to bridge the widespread digital exclusion and alienation of the community and mainstream them with increasing digital based access, participation, and services.
