Access for Aid- Bridging Connectivity in Conflict Zones for Humanatarian Outreach affected by Longest Internet Shutdown in Manipur in North East Himalayan Region of India

Access for Aid is a humanitarian initiative, by the Council for Social and Digital Development (CSDD) and the North East Development Foundation (NEDF) aimed at providing free internet broadband packs to support humanitarian groups and agencies operating in conflict zones affected by prolonged internet shutdowns, since May – June 2023, in 3 districts of Manipur in North East Himalayan Region of India, bordering Myanmar. The project specifically targets locations experiencing ethnic violence between two major indigenous tribal groups, Meitei and Kukis, where access to reliable internet connectivity is critical for coordinating relief efforts, facilitating communication, and accessing vital information.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected the community worst with tea production and supply affected, wages became irregular. Community Internet Library (CIL)

Krisarthak: Financial Education and Counselling (FEC) of Farmers in Assam

The pilot (Jan – March 2023) reached out to 2834 farmers from 5 value chains in the above mentioned 5 districts. Out of the total beneficiaries, 52.5% are female and 47.5% are male farmers. 37.8% are smartphone users and 58.2% are base phone users. Out of the 1070 smartphone users, 561 have completed the modules in the Bittiya Sakhi / Financial Friend Mobile Chatbot.
