The North East India Social Progress Index (NEISPI) seeks to measure the extent to which the States of the region provide for the social and environmental needs of their citizens in a post Covid world order. Critical indicators, aligned with the UN SDG Goals 2030 in the areas of basic human needs, foundations of well-being, and opportunity to progress aims to show the relative performance of States. The index is being published by the Council for Social & Digital Development (CSDD) and the North East Development Foundation (NEDF), and is based on the writings of Douglass North, Joseph Stiglitz and others. The NEISPI seeks to measure the well-being of a societies in North East Region by observing social and environmental factors including wellness (comprising sanitation, shelter, and health), social equity, equality, inclusion, digital inclusion, sustainability, safety and freedom.
